1885 Artifact uncovered at the Corral Bar-Riverside Grill in Durand!

An artifact from 1885 had been uncovered during the special events room expansion at the Corral Bar-Riverside Grill.  A 9-foot high by 55-feet long multi-sheet full color paper lithograph circus poster advertising the Great Anglo-American Circus exhibiting in Durand on Monday, August 17, 1885 is now on display. This is believed to be the only surviving billboard for the Great Anglo-American Circus and Menagerie!  A MUST SEE if you enjoy circus nostalgia, history or viewing one of a kind artifacts.

In honor of Miles Orton (owner & manager of the circus), the special events room has been named the “Orton Room”.  The Orton Room is available for special events such as anniversary parties, birthdays, class reunions, retirement parties and meetings which will seat 80 -100 people.

Please call ahead to ensure viewing availability or to schedule an event at 715-672-8874 and ask for Lori, Sharon or Ron.  The room will not be available to view when occupied or being prepared for private parties.

This wall is amazing! I cannot explain the feeling of looking at something that is this old and preserved so well for what it is. I’m tonguetongue-tied! I want to come back and bring my hubby! He would appreciate the history this building holds.
